- First step is to obtain Letter of Acceptance from the University/college and we assist the prospective student to obtain this letter from desired institution.
- After getting Letter of Acceptance from the University/college we help to apply for study permit which allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in Canada.
- If you’re a legal resident in certain countries, you may be able to get your study permit faster by applying through the Student Direct Stream.
- During studies the student may work 20 hours per week off campus or full time during break.
- A study permit is usually valid for the length of your study program, plus an extra 90 days. The 90 days let you prepare to leave Canada or apply to extend your stay.
- After completion of your studies, you can apply for Post Graduate work permit.
- Bring an accompanying spouse or common-law partner to Canada on an open work permit, allowing him/her to work for any employer.
- Bring accompanying minor children to study in Canada at the same rate that Canadians pay.
- Become eligible for Canadian permanent residence, either through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Quebec’s immigration system or through the Express Entry immigration selection system.
PROGRAM REQUIRMENTS
Letter of Acceptance(LOA)
Applicants enrolled at a designated learning institute (DLI) must submit a letter of acceptance along with the application.
Identity Documents
Applicants and accompanying family members are required to submit their valid passport or travel document and photographs.
Proof of Financial Support
Applicant is required to prove that he/she has adequate funds to pay tuition fee and living expenses in Canada. Applicants can provide various documents as proof of financial support:
- Proof of student loan from a bank.
- Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from the participating Canadian financial organization.
- Official bank statements for the past four months.
- Proof of a Canadian bank account in the applicant’s name if they have transferred money to Canada.
- A letter from the sponsor stating the availability of sufficient funds.
- Applicants who are offered scholarships or are in a Canadian-funded educational program must show proof of funding paid from within Canada.
Educational Documents
Applicant is required to submit his/her educational documents (e.g., diploma/degree/school certificate, marksheet/transcripts etc.) along with the application.
English Language Proficiency Exam
Usually, applicant is also required to demonstrate that he/she meet the minimum language requirements of the program and therefore need to submit the test results from IELTS, CELPIP or TOEFL.
Immigration Medical Examination (IME)
Applicants must be in good health condition and need submit a valid medical certificate (if required) from a Panel Physician.
Other Documents
Based on an applicant’s background or profile, he/she may be required to submit Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Experience Letter, Income Tax Return documents etc.
While studying in Canada you must:
- Make progress towards completing your program
- Respect any conditions listed on your study permit
- Stop studying if you no longer meet the requirements
- Leave canada when your permit expires
- Depending on your case, there may be conditions on your study permit such as:
- If you’re allowed to work in Canada
- If you’re allowed to travel within Canada
- The date you must stop studying
People who don’t need a permit to study in Canada
Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada. The cases below are exceptions. Short-term studies (6 months or less)
You can study at any school in Canada without a study permit if:
your course or program lasts 6 months or less your studies aren’t part of a longer program and you’ll complete all your studies within the time we approved you to stay in Canada (usually 6 months after you enter) If you’re taking prerequisite courses, you should get a study permit, even if the courses are less than 6 months long. If you don’t, you’ll have to apply for a study permit before you can start your full study program. Depending on processing times, you may not get it in time to start your studies.
STUDENT PERMIT EXTENSION
Once a student has finished his education as per the valid study permit, you may want to study further and you may be eligible for an extension of your study permit. To keep studying, you need to know:
When to Apply:
You should apply to extend your permit at least 30 days before it expires. Make sure your passport doesn’t expire at the same time. You can’t extend your study permit beyond your passport’s expiry date.
If you apply before your permit expires, you can stay in Canada under the same conditions as your current study permit until we make a decision.
You should apply to extend your study permit if you plan to travel outside Canada and your permit will expire while you’re travelling.
If you’ll finish your studies earlier than you expected: Your Study permit will expire on the date marked on the valid permit or 90 days after the day you complete your studies, whichever comes first.
If you’ll finish your studies later than you expected: You must apply to extend your study permit at least 30 days before the original expiry date.
What to do if your permit has expired:
You have lost your student status if you’re still in Canada
- The expiry date of your permit passed before you applied
- For a new study permit
- For a work permit
- To stay in Canada as a visitor
- You didn’t respect the conditions of your permit
- In some cases, you may apply to restore your status as a student. To apply, you must submit your application within 90 days of losing your status.
- Keep meeting the requirements for your stay
- Have met all the conditions listed on your permit, and pay your fees
- Restoration fee
